10. Subscriptions or testimonials from police are not to be

received by officers removed from one division or district to another if they are still serving in the police.
11. Attention has been drawn to a practice of residents in a particular district subscribing to testimonials of various kinds for presentation to officers who may be removed to other parts of the Metropolitan Police District.
12. Without prohibiting altogether the acceptance by officers of such marks of appreciation of their services as may be offered by the inhabitants of the locality in which they have served, the Commissioner feels that there may be very strong objections to rifts of this nature being received by any person who still re- mains a member of the Metropolitan Police, and whose duties pay hereafter again throw him in close relation with the persons who have contributed to the testimonial; and he therefore desires that if any such intention be entertained, an immediate report is to be made to him by the Superintendent of the division, through he District Superintendent, giring all particulars of the Individuals with whom the subscription originates, and likewise of the occupations and positions of its promotere and con- Tibutors.
